We are so pleased to be joining the Project Seagrass Team in Ryde on the Isle of Wight on the 20th of March. Our volunteers will be getting muddy and stuck in helping to prepare the seagrass seeds so that they are ready to be planted. We are proud to be helping and adding to the donation that we have made to this very important charity which is a global facing environmental charity devoted to the conversation of seagrass ecosystems through research, community, and action.
Seagrass meadows play a vital role in nurturing fish populations and weakening the effects of storm surges, as well as providing a significant contribution to the sequestration of carbon, up to twice that of terrestrial forests per hectare! Unfortunately, seagrasses are among the world’s most threatened ecosystems, therefore the work of Project Seagrass is hugely important for its restoration and preservation to help promote diversity in our seas and oceans and the associated benefits of this. To find out more about their work and how you could help support them, please visit the Project Seagrass website.
Sustainability is an issue for everyone, no matter of the size and scale of a business. At OceanWise we value and respect our environment so have set out sustainability and environmental goals which we hope will support the natural resources on which we all depend. Further detail on what we are setting out to achieve and what we’ve done so far can be found here on our website.
