Team News
We are pleased to welcome two starters to the OceanWise Team this month, James Rapaport, who joins our Technical Team as Senior Information Systems Developer and, Will Girard, who joins our Customer Service Team as Business Administration Apprentice.
James has joined us from Caris, based in New Brunswick, Canada, having previously worked with the OceanWise Team, initially at SeaZone Solutions then at HR Wallingford. James is well respected in the geographical information community, having helped draft the ISO 19100 based discovery metadata standard for the UK and developed the metadata management tool, Metadata Maestro, for MEDIN.
This month also sees our earlier apprentice, George Wright, start his degree in Digital Technology Solutions at the University of Winchester. George will continue to work on projects at OceanWise four days a week while attending classes 1 day a week. We are delighted to sponsor George in his endeavours and wish him every success. George added;
“I would like to thank OceanWise for the amazing support they offered me during my level three apprenticeship and now for sponsoring my degree apprenticeship. In the two years since joining, OceanWise have provided me with the platform to develop my technical skills and personal qualities all whilst achieving educational qualifications”
We also wish to extend a warm welcome our second GEBCO sponsored intern, Azmi Rosedee, who has just joined us from the University of New Hampshire, USA. Azmi will be spending four weeks with us during which time he will be updating our digital bathymetric database before returning to Malaysia as the new Data Manager in the Hydrographic Office of the Malaysian Navy.
